About Me
Let me begin by saying this; If they had meetings for cake addicts, I would be the CEO! I dream of cake, I read about cake, I watch shows about cake, and of course I love to eat cake!
My name is Diane Tavares, I live in Guelph, Ontario. I am married to a fabulous husband, Joe, I have 3 wonderful children, Grace (10yrs), Leo (4yrs) and Angelina (3yrs).
My parents and grandparents are french Canadian and I think that is where my love for dessert came from :) When I was growing up, dinner and sometimes lunch had to have a dessert with it. It was usually something sweet and sugary! Yum! Some favoured pies, others liked the cookies, but I loved cake! I insisted that every birthday had to have a cake and it couldn't be chocolate. Yes that is right, I'm not a chocolate cake lover. Lemon, French Vanilla, Banana and anything with Peanut Butter! (I'm day dreaming of cakes as I write this)! After I had Grace, I ordered her birthday cakes from the 'grocery store' and no offence to the stores but they were tasteless. (I should tell you that I have no culinary skills what so ever and I've started my share of kitchen fires)! For her 5th birthday I decided to bake her cake myself. I laugh at the cake disaster and repairs that needed to be done that day! It tasted delicious! I've kept it up ever since.
In February 2009, I thought it would be fun to take a Wilton's Cake Decorating course at Michael's. I enjoyed it so much that in 4 months I had completed all 4 courses. I have been making cakes ever since....
